Ishara: the wind-up

Ishara (1969) winds up within three minutes after the last song. Here is the clip, and you may like to consider the following question while you watch it:

Please post your answeres as "comments" below. The clip is 4 minutes long and I have sub-titled it. Apart from Amir (Waheed Murad), Aliya (Deeba) and Bezar Sahib (Lehri), whom you know from previous clips, you will also meet here Ishrat (Talat Husain), who is the boy Aliya's guardian wants her to marry, and Reshma (Rozina), who is a sponsor of Amir's paintings who has fallen in love with Amir but Amir cannot love her back because his thoughts are with Aliya.

The opening sequence was an artist's vision for consensus which realizes in this closing sequence as here everyone seems helping the artist to realize his dreams. Those who once were seen singing and dancing to their own tunes are now seen helping others. Consensus has taken place and the artist's vision for a better tomorrow has dawned.

:) People around Amir helped him to reach to his dream/destiny. The people are represented here with three characters, Mr.Bezar, Ishrat and a woman (Ishrat and the woman didn't appear in first clip i guess)

I can't figure out one thing. If it was so easy to leave with her then why was Amir waiting? What was taking so much time for him to decide and act, he just had to purchase one ticket after-all! :s

The clip is different and same to the opening sequence in some ways.

In the opening sequence, Amir had no sponsor for his paintings who is now reshma. Also Mr. bezar looks less "bezar" now. In the beginning, Amir was introducing people around him to us, where as here people around him are recognizing themselves with their actions and by helping Amir. Everybody is playing his role and by collective deeds, Amir could be able to reach his destiny.

It looks that what aspiration Amir had in the beginning is now turning into reality.

He decided to see off Aliya but he could not talk to her, and suddenly people around him reacted in a different way he was expecting and which turned whole thing in a joyful moment for him.

The purpose of literature should be to create a new and bright picture of life and to produce a hope and positive attitude towards life, for the development of society this literature plays a very important role and which Waheed Murad proved here.

The film has ended with Colour which started with the black and white theme.

With the colour of his soul, Amir - the artist - succeeded to paint his outer world in colours.

And no one was sad and seemed to be contended with Amir and supported him including Ishrat and Reshma in achieving his desire as similar to the starting of the film.

A society which makes its decision with consensus [as reflected in this video that everybody wanted Amir to be with Aaliya], achieves its desire and its goal.

hmm...Democracy wins...

The man with Aliya...who was forced onto her by her guardian...

Realizes that he is not the right person who should be with Aliya...

He realises that there is some other peron who is real partner and suits Aliya...also Aliya wanted him and may be by forced she might accept Talat but he cant force her become happy with him...

So he after realizing and accepting the fact simply leave the seat for the better suiter...

The same realization done by Ishrat...for Aamir..

To see someone happy...we shoud not force ourself on him/her...we should provide what he/she requires and thats the best we can do for the one we care about...

So...everyone around Aamir realizes that...and helped him to get to Aliya..while...Talat on the other side realizes the same fact and leave Aliya alone...

Which means ....basically that was the TRIGGER/ACTION...I talked about in my previous comment required by Aamir to turn his dreams into reality and thus to meet his fate...

A little help and realization of facts from others around him...

We need to realize..now...to interpret the facts...we need not to assume...that we are doing good...we need to think and take actions about it..also we need to help the best available person...

To avail the opportunity...

We should realize that who is good for whom??

And than we should provide him/her our help so that he/she can reach his/her destiny and thus by doing this...someone somewhere would do the same for us...

Afterall...we all wanted a HAPPY ENDING...right?

The symmetry -- complete with rich colors & light, morning & night then the dramatic blacks -- the moonlight whites and shadows -- all provide a grand design.

This backdrop provides a mirror sometimes and other times a frame for Amir's reflective and pre-occupied moments. Against this design he moves alone and then back in touch (slowly) with others & the crowd. This design shows others' movements away and toward him and his away and toward them.

Dar Sahib sums up the artist's vision well when he says:
"The opening sequence was an artist's vision for consensus which realizes in this closing sequence as here everyone seems helping the artist to realize his dreams. "

Other comments also seems said and so well in the comments by RR participants. Still, I'm searching for clearer description and metaphor derivation. I am fascinated by the artist's variations of acceptance (perhaps with time?) and with the these four:

1) His own artist's soul which may be constantly wrestling with time as well as his deep, complicated emotions and his life-calling as an artist;

2) Relationship by way of musings or actually seeking the one who represents for him completion, beauty and intimacy (the Beloved in terms of either Allah or the epitome of a culture, a nation?)

3) Relationship with "community" as it changes in course of the film, ie, those who conflict with his desires to remain aloof with his grieving; b) his audience in general - or the world all around him which feels like vague movements and shadows at times; c) those who recognize his passion and needs and help to fulfill the same by knowing interaction.

I meant to add a fourth relationship here for which Amir is in search although unaware perhaps at least part of the time, as we each are: The Collective Ego or Soul of All Humanity.

I am one little vote for more of these sorts of inter-actions...

All's well that ends will. Does this go true for every situation? Maybe he is still dwelling in his imaginary world, trying to find solace for his heart. Even so, if it is a product of his imagination, it still doesnt seem gloomy. And that is what matters in the end.

the viewer is no longer present as a character in this scene, and amir is no longer the narrator. instead, he is now a character, and the camera and sound are the narrators.

i can't think of a similarity here. there is no narrator at all, and the characters and scenes that inhabited the opening are rarely present here.

Greetings,

The one message that I receive from this is that Amir's mission has been accomplished. It is time for him to leave though, still, he has strong admiration for that from which he is departing.

There seems to be a part of him which does not want to leave. But he nonetheless departs, for something great pulls him. He departs, with the apparent assistance of others.

It is a great departure, as he is united with the one he loves. Very nice, even if I may be sensing only a poor interpretation of it :-).

Kindest wishes,

robert
